Renée Wolcott, Past Co-Chair

Renée Wolcott is PACA's Past Co-Chair. She was first elected to the PACA Board of Directors in 2015 as Member Representative, before transitioning to Co-Chair in 2017. Renée's destiny as a book conservator was predicted by the results of a high-school interest survey, which listed “book restorer” as the top career match for her skills and interests.
After disregarding this insightful advice for many years—during which she worked as a journalist, editor, and public relations specialist—Renée graduated from the Winterthur-University of Delaware Master’s Program in Art Conservation in 2011. She studied bookbinding with fine binder Don Rash, and interned at The National Portrait Gallery, The New York Public Library, and The Walters Art Museum. After graduating, she worked as a book conservator at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, and she also taught an undergraduate class in book history and conservation at the University of Delaware. She is now associate conservator for library and archival materials at the American Philosophical Society.
"I have been a PACA member since its inception in 2011," Renée says. "I'm excited to help PACA expand and become more versatile in serving its members." As Past Co-Chair, Renée helps to set organizational goals, creates agendas for board meetings, and keeps the PACA digital archives organized. She also chairs the Nominating Committee, so if you would like to nominate yourself or another PACA member for a leadership role, contact Renée!
