Julia Lawson, Treasurer
Julia "Julie" Lawson is PACA's Treasurer, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2016. Julie is an objects conservator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. She has been a member of the Conservation Laboratory team there since her 3rd-year internship from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation brought her to the Penn Museum in 1998. She has worked on a variety of projects involving in-house exhibitions, loans, and collections preservation. Julia is a Professional Associate of AIC, was AIC's Objects Specialty Group Secretary/Treasurer in 2010–2012, and has been a PACA member since its inception in 2011..
“I first encountered conservation many years ago while working in exhibit design at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (now of Drexel University), my first real job after graduating from Moore College of Art next door. I loved the history embodied in that institution and the chance to help preserve its collections, which inspired me to eventually go into conservation as a profession," says Julie. The same commitment to preservation led Julie to volunteer for the PACA Board. "I firmly believe in the value of PACA to the local conservation community," she says, "and I am pleased to contribute to its mission as Treasurer." Julie establishes PACA's annual budget for events and outreach, files PACA's taxes, and handles PACA's other financial business.
