Erica ESH James, Communications Chair
Erica ESH James graduated from the Winterthur/UD Program in 1999 with an M.S. in painting conservation; in 2021, she graduated with an M.A. in Liberal Studies with a focus on philosophy (aesthetics) and classics from Villanova University. After completing conservation fellowships sponsored by both the Getty and Kress Foundations in 2002, she became a conservator in private practice. In 2007, she returned to institutional work for five years, and now continues her conservation work privately with institutions and private collectors. In addition, Erica works as a philosophy instructor in a community college setting instructing in western philosophy (ancient) and logic. Erica has been a board member on several conservation boards, published in the field, and is currently the assistant editor for the Paintings Specialty Group AIC Postprints. She has been a peer editor for the Villanova journal Concept since 2018. Erica is a member of the Society of Winterthur Fellows, Philadelphia Area Conservation Association, and is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
